Stamping Kit for September

I am once again offering Stamping Kits.  The cost of the kit is $35.00 and includes shipping.  To purchase the kits or the monthly specials available to those who order Stamping Kits, you will need to contact me.

What is a Stamping Kit? Well, a Stamping Kit is a kit I put together to help inspire you to create wonderful projects. The projects could be cards, gifts, or home decor items. Each month will feature a different stamp set.

What will I get for my $35.00? You will get a Clear Mount stamp set* (value 14.95 - 18.95) and enough materials (ink, punches, adhesives, and additional stamps not included) to complete the projects for the month. Your material will already be cut and/or scored for you. No measuring required on your part.  I will also be posting videos on YouTube to assist in assembling your projects as well as emailing you a pdf showing step by step how to assemble the projects.

I will also be offering specials for my Stamping Kit members each month. These specials will only be available for those who purchase my Stamping Kits that month. Specials will change each month.

Each month is a separate purchase and there are no minimums. You will have to order directly from me to get the special offers. You can email me at stampbyrhonda@gmail.com or message me on Facebook
https://www.facebook.com/StampByRhonda to purchase your Stamping Kit.

Ghosting

I know, you were probably expecting a Halloween card.  Ghosting is a stamping technique.  This effect is when you stamp your image on Whisper White cardstock with Whisper White craft ink.  Then you use your brayer to roll ink over the image.  The craft ink keeps the paper from absorbing the ink and the color shows up in a lighter tone.  I used Primrose Petals on this card.  I then layered it onto Whisper White.  The card base is Blushing Bride.  I added two Pearl Basic Jewels.  Then I stamped Happy Birthday in Stazon Black. The stamp set used was From My Heart.

Late Night Stampers Fall 2013 Treasure Hunt Update

I have updated the list of participants in the Treasure Hunt.  Stop by and check out their blogs and get the clues.  Some of the participants are offering drawings for prizes.

Don't forget to check out what I am offering.

I am offering a drawing for a free NIP RETIRED stamp set of my choice for anyone in the US who becomes a follower of my blog.  Due to Stampin' Up! rules I can not offer products to those of you in other countries.  I have thought about that rule a bit and have decided to amend my drawing.  I will still offer the stamp set to the US winner of my drawing, but I will add something just in case the winner is from a different country.  I will offer a very special hand crafted gift.  If the prize winner is from the US, you can opt to receive the set or the hand crafted gift.  In addition to the follower prize, I will also make two additional very special hand crafted gifts. One will go to someone who leaves a comment and one will go to one of my viewers who visits my Stampin' Up! website and fills out their contact information  My Stampin' Up! http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/rhondaprice/

Keepsake Ornament Christmas Card

Did you know the Keepsake Ornament Stamp Set and Holiday Ornament Framelit Die Set are still available this year?  They aren't in the 2013 - 2014 Annual Catalog or the Holiday Catalog, but they are available online.

Seasonal Sayings Christmas Card

Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler, so simple yet so beautiful.  I love the way this one turned out.  I was wanting something very simple and clean for this card.  The sentiment has so much going on with it.  I used some of the Seasons of Style DSP Stack to add some interest to the background.  A touch of Rhinestone Basic Jewels for a bit of bling finishes it off.  Some Stampin' Dimensionals were added to give it some pop.

August Swap Cards

Once again, this month I entered into a swap on Facebook.  This was the second month I joined this one.  In this swap, you are assigned a swap partner.  This way you only have to make one card to send.  The twist with it is there is a sweepstakes winner for every swap.  There is no theme to the sweepstakes card.   Yes, this actually means two cards are sent, but it's not like the one I send out 12 cards.  The object of this swap is to use Stampin' Up! products on your cards.  If you don't have a lot of Stampin' Up! products you can use products from other companies.  Everything I used is from Stampin' Up!

The Theme for August was KIDS.  Anything about or for kids.  I thought this cute lion card would be perfect.  I used the Floral Frames Framelits to make his mane.  The larger one is actually the card base.  I used some circle punches for the face and an oval punch for the feet.  I just love the way he turned out.

For the sweepstakes winner, I used my Flower Shop Bundle to make the flowers.  I embossed my card front with a retired embossing folder and sponged over it with Old Olive ink to look like vines.  The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners Stamp set and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits set.

Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set

I was just sitting here thinking about another idea for yet another Christmas card design.  Then it hit me, I have actually been designing a set of cards around one stamp set lately, Seasonal Sayings.  I have joined two card swaps over on Facebook.  One was completed this month (August) and the other isn't due until September 15th.  As most Stampin' Up! fans know, they retired almost every stamp set having to do with holidays in the new 2013 - 2014 Catalog.  This meant for my fall and winter holiday cards I would have to purchase new stuff from the Holiday Catalog to swap with current supplies.  I did purchase a couple of Christmas/Winter things, but the funds are tight right now and I just couldn't stretch it out far enough to include the fall stuff yet.  Well, I wanted to join in all the great swaps going on.  I sat and searched through the stamp sets I have for the ones that did not retire.  Luckily for me, I have quite a few that stayed current.  As I was looking, Seasonal Sayings caught my eye.  It is still current!  For the first swap it was Halloween.  Seasonal Saying has a "Happy Halloween" sentiment.  I had purchased some of the new designer series paper when it was on sale and some of the Venetian Romance seemed close enough to use.  I had the Chevron embossing folder.  I had a design.

Now there is a Fall/Thanksgiving swap coming up.  I went back to Seasonal Sayings and used the "Thanks Is For Giving" sentiment.  I paired it with my Autumn Accents Bigz Die and my Square Lattice embossing folder and I loved it.
Now I am looking at this set again and thinking about the Christmas stamp and Celebrate! and Love You.  I could create a Christmas card with this.  Celebrate! could be a birthday or New Years card.  Love You could be an anniversary or Valentines' Day card.  I can create 5 more cards in this series.  So many possibilities with this set.  Keep an eye out.  I now have a plan for when I walk into my craft room.  I want to finish this series of cards.

My Favorite Crafting Tool

I have been reading through some blogs lately, and a few of the bloggers will tell what their favorite crafting tool is. I thought about it for a while, and decided what my favorite is. If you read my posts, you might have an idea what mine is. It's the Sizzix Big Shot. I absolutely love to use mine. I have worn one out. (Well it makes funny noises and doesn't work quite right, but still works.) I have had a Big Shot since before I ever bought my first Stampin' Up! product. The fact that Stampin' Up! is partnered with Sizzix for some of it's products, is one of the reasons I became a demonstrator. I love the texture an embossing folder can give a project. The ease of cutting through many layers of cardstock with the dies. The newer framelits that let me cut out stamped images to pop them up on my projects. There are just so many things you can do with the Big Shot. It does cost quite a bit, but it is so worth it.

The Big Shot machine comes with Standard Cutting Pads and a multipurpose platform so you can start cutting immediately. From crafting to quilting and everything in between, the Big Shot is a big deal!

Fall/Thanksgiving Card Tutorial

Gather all your materials.  You will need Crushed Curry Cardstock (11 x 4.25), Very Vanilla Cardstock (4 x 5.25), Very Vanilla Cardstock (4 x 2.5), Pearl Basic Jewels, bone folder, Stamp-a-ma-jig, Simply Scored Stylus, Stampin' Sponges, Big Shot, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Stampin' Pierce Mat, Sahara Sand Ink, Pumpkin Pie Ink, Chocolate Chip Ink, So Saffron Ink, Gumball Green Ink, Real Red Ink, Stampin' Dimentionals, Snail Adhesive, Autumn Accents Bigz Die, and Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set.

Start by folding your Crushed Curry Cardstock in half to form your card base and set aside.

Run the larger piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing folder and set aside.
Run the smaller piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock through the Big Shot using the Apothecary Accents and set aside

Cut out two of the Maple Leaves from the Autumn Accents Bigz Die.
Place the leaves on the Stampin' Pierce Mat and using your Simply Scored Stylus, draw veins on the leaves.
For the first leaf, I used Sahara Sand, Gumball Green , Real Red, and Chocolate Chip Ink.

For the second leaf, I used Sahara Sand, Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, and Chocolate Chip ink.

I used the "Thanks is for giving" stamp from the Seasonal Sayings stamp set.
Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig line up the stamp on the Very Vanilla Cardstock you ran through the Big Shot with the Apothecary Accents.

Sponge around with Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie Ink.

Add the medium sized Pear Basic Jewels to the front and two Stampin' Dimentionals on the back.
Adhere the Very Vanilla piece you ran through the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to your Crushed Curry Card Base.
Adhere the leaves to the card front.
Adhere your saying at the bottom of the card.
Such a colorful card perfect for Fall or Thanksgiving.

Best of Butterflies

Finally played with my Best Of Butterflies stamp set.  This is one of the Best of 25 Years stamp sets.  A new set comes out every month.  I bought this one a couple of months ago, but hadn't gotten the chance to play with it.  I used a strip of Seasons of Style Designer Series Paper Stack instead of ribbon at the center of my card.  I love the Blushing Bride pink.  This color was brought back during the color update this year.  I love how well it goes with the Crumb Cake and Whisper White.  I think the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder adds interest on the bottom of the card.

Have your kids gone back to school yet?

Well it's that time of year around here again, back to school for the kids.  Has school started in your area?  Normally our schools would have been back in session August 7th this year, but this year we are getting a late start due to unforeseen problems.  The Word Window Punch is great for making these cute pencils.  So Saffron, Pink Pirouette, Smoky Slate and Crumb Cake card stock were used to make the pencils.  A tip drawn on the end with a black marker finishes them off.

Christmas is coming!

Christmas is coming!  It will be here before you know it.  I have been working on some of my cards.  There are many great options in the new Holiday Catalog.  I love the paper stacks for making my cards.  The patterns are limited to two double sided designs (4 designs total) but, there are plenty of papers if you want all your cards to match.  It is much more economical than buying the larger 12 x 12 papers packs.  If you want everyone to have unique cards the 12 x 12 would be for you.  At first I was not in love with the stacks, but I have really warmed up to them as I have played with them.   The Winter Frost Designer Series Paper Stack coordinates with Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White.  The Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack coordinates with Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, and Whisper white.
Made with the Winter Frost DSPS and the Christmas Messages stamp set.
